With _Kids of Sodom - E-Waste in Ghana_ Kai Löffelbein shows the downside of mass production, which is outside the consciousness of most consumers - the places of disposing and recycling of electronic devices that were produced in the industrialized countries. From Germany alone 155,000 tons of electronic waste are exported to third world countries every year. A large part ends up in Agbogbloshie, a slum on the outskirts of the capital Accra in Ghana, where it is being disassembled - especially by children and adolescents. Without protective clothing and suitable tools they try to gain access to the valuable raw materials of aluminum, copper and iron. Open fire and toxic fumes endanger health and the environment - and are essential due to a lack of alternatives.
