Rendered History, 2012, ongoing project
In his work the artist Vladimir Miladinović (*1981, RS) deals with the politics of remembrance, the manipulation through the media and the creation and re-interpretation of historical narratives. Since 2012 Miladinović researches articles – first from local newspaper archives, then from international archives such as of El Pais and The Irish Times – which report about the war in former Yugoslavia, and finally reproduces the entire pages drawing them with ink.
The daily, short-lived news from the past – often including iconic photographs – are given a sustainability that enable a reflection of the bygone with today’s knowledge. Fotodoks has invited Vladimir Miladinović as artist in residence to Munich to research in the archive of Süddeutsche Zeitung and the Bavarian State Library. He produced a new series that for the first time reflects upon German news coverage of the Yugoslavian wars.
