Olaf Unverzart and Sebastian Schels have taken a look at the alpine landscape beyond the usual postcard motifs with their photobook "Été", published in October 2020. The two photographers documented a total of 33 ski resorts in the French and Italian Western Alps with large format cameras in 2018 and 2019. Their photographs paint a picture characterized by tourist architecture and infrastructure. These are winter sports resorts that were created from the 1960s onward as vacation colonies designed on the drawing board in a way that is almost unthinkable today. Their conception as space-efficient, high-density and traffic-free places for everyone corresponds entirely to the functional tourism architecture of the 1960s and 1970s.
