Our Father Ceaușescu

Which values does the post-communist youth of Romania identify with? Where does it find its role models? How important are tradition and the past? Where are the young people looking for their future? These and other questions where the starting point of the work _Our Father Ceauşescu_ by photographer Dana Popa. Twenty years after the Romanian Revolution in December 1989, which led to the fall and execution of dictator Nicolae Ceauşescu and the end of the socialist system in Romania, Popa documents a generation that is more familiar with capitalism than communism; a youth living between opposing social structures of the past and present. With this documentary about a search for identity, the London-based photographer is also dealing with an aspect of her own history, with the social and cultural changes in her home country Romania.
